Jennifer Lynn Connelly (born December 12, 1970) is an American film actress and former child model. Connelly started her modeling during her childhood, after a friend of her parents, who was a advertising executive, suggested them that she should audition for a model agency. Beginning her career, she appeared in magazine, newspaper and television advertising. She made her motion picture debut in the 1984 crime film Once Upon a Time in America. While working as a model, Connelly starred as early as a teenager in films such as Labyrinth and Career Opportunities. She gained critical acclaim following her work in the 1998 science fiction film Dark City and her portrayal of Marion Silver in Darren Aronofsky's 2000 drama, Requiem for a Dream
